Lufthansa Group goes for 10,000 new hires in 2025, fewer jobs for core airline

Germany's Lufthansa is intending to hire around 10,000 individuals across the group in 2025, while steps to cut costs at its having a hard time core airline company continue this year, the company said on Wednesday.

The airline group is trying to find more than 2,000 flight attendants, more than 1,400 ground personnel, around 1,300 technical professionals, 1,200 administrative personnel and 800 pilots, according to a statement, which said majority of all recruitment was to happen in Germany.

For 2024, Lufthansa had set itself the greater target of 13,000 new employees group-wide.

Lufthansa Airlines will continue to concentrate on the Turn-around efficiency program in 2025 and expects to hire less staff members than in 2024, the declaration added.

Lufthansa Airlines, among Europe's top carriers, is fighting with low yields, competition with global airlines and spiralling costs, prompting the programme to cut expenses by 2026.

The business said its upkeep company Lufthansa Technik would be a focus of 2025 recruitment.

Subsidiaries Austrian Airlines and Eurowings were each searching for around 700 staff members, while Lufthansa Airlines desires to work with around 1,200 people over the next 12 months, focusing on operations, the statement said.
