Trump preparing to pardon individuals charged in Jan. 6 attack, source states

President Donald Trump is preparing to issue sweeping pardons to defendants charged in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and intends to interrupt sentences for some people who attacked cops, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday.

The source did not give details about when Trump planned to do so.

The strategy, initially reported by ABC News, requires pardoning those who did not devote violence throughout the riot at the Capitol, efficiently wiping away legal consequences from their convictions.
