Clarksons, a shipping services company, has seen its annual profit drop due to market uncertainty

Clarksons, a?world-leading shipping services provider?, posted a 21% decline?in annual profit? on?Monday as 'geopolitical uncertainties and U.S. Tariffs? weighed down its broking divisions.

The results are indicative of the challenges that the global shipping industry will face in 2025. New tariffs, changing sanctions, and regional conflicts have disrupted traditional trade routes, and caused a complex environment across all sectors.

The complexity of the situation will only increase in 2026. Nearly 1,000 tankers in the global fleet are currently sanctioned due to an evolving sanctions regime.

Clarksons, who offers shipbroking and research, as well as maritime financial services, has reported that the underlying profit before tax for the year ended in December fell from 115.3 millions pounds to 90.6 million pounds ($120.67 million).

The firm's order book for the year 2026 is $244 million. This is up from $231 million at the start of 2025.
