Denmark's prime minister summons magnate following Trump's Greenland risk

Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called business leaders to a meeting on Thursday after U.S. Presidentelect Donald Trump last week refused to eliminate military or economic action to take control of Greenland.

Trump said it was an absolute requirement for the United States to take control of Greenland, a semi-autonomous area of Denmark, and recommended he would enforce tariffs on Denmark if it withstands his offer to purchase the vast Arctic island.

Frederiksen informed Trump in a 45-minute phone conversation on Wednesday that it depended on Greenland to choose its future and that Denmark is willing to do more to reinforce security in the Arctic.

She also highlighted that Danish business contribute to growth and jobs in the United States which the EU and the U.S. have a typical interest in increased trade.

The CEO of Danish obesity and diabetes drugmaker Novo Nordisk, Lars Fruergaard Jorgensen, will get involved in the conference, the company stated on Thursday.

Denmark is likewise home to other global companies such as brewer Carlsberg, toymaker Lego, jewellery maker Pandora and wind turbine maker Vestas.

The ministry decreased to give any detail on the time for the. conference or who was welcomed.

Following Frederiksen's conversation with Trump, foreign. minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen likewise called members of the foreign. policy committee to a conference on Thursday.
