Officials say 18 people were injured in Ukraine by Russian strikes

Officials on the Telegram messaging app said that Russian air strikes in the early morning hours of Thursday injured 18 people and damaged buildings in a number of locations including the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, the Black Sea port of Odesa and other places.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said that 12 people, including two young children, had been injured in the city. He added that debris also fell near petrol stations and warehouses, as well as on apartment buildings.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions earlier in Kyiv.

Authorities in Odesa said that a child was among the three people injured when a '19-storey apartment block' was struck by a missile. Three others were also wounded 'in Zaporizhzhia to the south east, where a missile attack caused a fire at an industrial facility.
