Saudi Arabia kills one after intercepting drone launched by Yemeni Houthis

A Yemeni living in Saudi Arabia was killed Thursday when a drone he intercepted, which?the civil defence of the kingdom said had been launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis.

Saudi Arabia announced the death of a man in Taif, a governorate located in the southwest. This is the first time that Saudi Arabia has done so this month after the militant Houthis intensified the attacks.

The interception also injured a Saudi woman and a Pakistani. Riyadh has previously stated that 86 people were injured in Houthi attacks this month.

The Houthis have not claimed any attacks for Thursday but they have announced military operations in southern Saudi Arabia previously.

The group said on Wednesday that Saudi airstrikes had targeted Yemeni provinces of Taiz Marib and Hajjah in the past 24 hours.

After the Houthis seized Yemen’s?western coastline?and islands in the Strait Bab el-Mandeb, the escalation of the Saudi-Yemen Conflict could pose a threat to Red Sea shipping.
