Bangladesh's Summit LNG anticipated to resume operations in mid-July, says official

The drifting storage and regasification unit of Bangladesh's Summit LNG should resume operations in midJuly after it was damaged throughout a cyclone, a. Petrobangla authorities stated on Thursday.

The official said the system is likely to resume operations by. July 14-15. It was hit by cyclone Remal which brought winds and. heavy rain to the shorelines of India and Bangladesh.

Top LNG had previously stated the floating melted natural. gas import terminal would continue to Singapore or the Middle. East for repairs. Shiptracking data from LSEG data shows that. the vessel is presently moored in Singapore.

State-owned Petrobangla is charged with importing LNG for. Bangladesh, which counts on the fuel to fulfill power need for. its population of more than 170 million people.

Petrobangla cancelled four spot freights arranged for. delivery from late May to around mid-June following the damage. to the unit, which is one of Bangladesh's 2 floating LNG. import terminals.
