South Korea's NOFI purchases approximated 135,000 T corn, traders state

Leading South Korean animal feed maker Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) purchased an approximated 135,000 metric lots of animal feed corn all anticipated to be sourced from South America in a global tender on Tuesday, European traders stated.

It was purchased in two consignments, both at an estimated $ 240.06 a load cost and freight (c&& f) consisted of, with some also bought at a premium over Chicago corn futures, they said.

One consignment of about 67,000 loads was bought from trading home CJ International with an extra $1.75 a lot surcharge for additional port discharging. Traders said part of CJ International's consignment was purchased a projected premium of 173 U.S. cents a bushel over the Chicago September corn contract.

The corn was for arrival in South Korea around Nov. 1.

Another consignment of 68,000 loads was bought from trading house Pan Ocean with an additional $1.50 a load surcharge for additional port unloading.

Pan Ocean's consignment was for shipment from South America in between Sept. 3-Oct. 2 for arrival in South Korea around Nov. 10.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and further quotes of prices and volumes are still possible later.
