Tunisia gets offers in 125,000 T barley tender, traders say

The most affordable price offered in the international tender from Tunisia's state grains company on Tuesday to acquire around 125,000 metric tons of animal feed barley was believed to be $231.60 a tonne c&& f for optionalorigin products, according to initial assessments from European traders.

The deal was thought to have been submitted by trading house Dreyfus for 25,000 lots.

No purchase has yet been reported and offers are still being thought about, they said. The company does not always buy the most affordable offer if other conditions gotten in touch with the price are viewed as unattractive.

Reports reflect assessments from traders and even more estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later on.

The grain can be sourced from optional origins and is looked for in five consignments of 25,000 lots for delivery between Oct. 25 and Dec. 15 depending upon origin picked.

Finance for the tender is being provided by the World Bank, one of the organisations helping Tunisia to compete with its existing financial troubles.
