Ryanair to cut German traffic by 12% over high location charges

Irish lowcost airline Ryanair said on Thursday it would cut 12% of its traffic through German airports, making great on threats to lower its existence in the country due to some of the highest area charges in Europe.

The cuts, which will result in a loss of 1.8 million seats from the start of the summertime flight plan in April 2025, will see Ryanair close its Dortmund, Dresden and Leipzig operations as well as minimizing its Hamburg operations by 60%.

The relocation will be ravaging for jobs, tourist and connectivity, stated Ryanair, contacting Transport Minister Volker Wissing and the federal government to act instantly to lower access expenses and fix Germany's broken air transportation system.

The airline has repeatedly alerted that it would change capacity to other EU countries if Germany did not satisfy its needs to reverse an air travel tax increase and lower air traffic control charges.
