Spirit Aero posts third-quarter earnings below estimates as Boeing strike weighs on outcomes

U.S. provider Spirit AeroSystems on Wednesday reported thirdquarter revenue below analysts' quotes and a loss of $4.07 per share, as a strike by Boeing factory workers weighed on its outcomes.

The company said that it would not provide forecast for the current year. It published third-quarter earnings of $1.47 billion, below experts' quotes of $1.70 billion, according to information assembled by LSEG.

The business's stockpile at the end of the third quarter stood at $48 billion, it stated.

Previously this month, Spirit AeroSystems stated it would carry out a 21-day furlough for 700 employees as an over-a-month-long strike at U.S. planemaker Boeing consumes into the provider's money and inventory area.

Spirit stated on Wednesday that the furloughs would take effect from Oct. 28 onwards and warned of possible layoffs and extra furloughs due to the financial pressures from the continuous Boeing strike.

In July, Boeing consented to repurchase Spirit AeroSystems for $ 4.7 billion in stock while Airbus moved to handle the provider's loss-making Europe-focused activities. Spirit repeated on Wednesday that it remained on track to close its acquisition by Boeing by mid-2025.
