• JERA Japan to explore LNG exports from Alaska's $44 Billion export project

  JERA will investigate the possibility of liquefied gas from the Alaska LNG Project, JERA and Glenfarne announced, while talks continue to sign binding contracts for the $44 billion project. The project aims to transport the stranded natural gas from Alaska’s remote north through the state, and then liquefy it to export. Despite Trump’s optimism, Japanese officials and energy executives are concerned that the expected costs of the project could make its gas more expensive than other sources. Reports indicate that Japan has hired Wood Mackenzie as a consultant to review the proposed 800-mile (1,287-km) Alaska gas pipeline, and LNG plant. • Singapore Military to Buy Four Boeing P-8A Poseidon Patrol Aircraft

• Air Cambodia becomes the latest COMAC aircraft customer

  Air Cambodia announced that it would buy up to twenty C909 regional aircraft made in China. This adds Cambodia to the growing list of Southeast Asian countries who are customers of China’s state-owned planemaker COMAC. COMAC is looking to sell their aircraft worldwide. Air Cambodia, the flag carrier of Cambodia, and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China announced on Tuesday that they had signed an agreement in China to confirm 10 C909 aircraft orders with the option of purchasing 10 more. COMAC has developed its own commercial jets in order to compete with the dominant planemakers Airbus & Boeing but is yet to sign any deals outside China and China friendly countries of Southeast Asia. Currently, only Chinese airlines operate the C919, a narrow-body aircraft designed to compete with popular Airbus A320neo models and Boeing 737 MAX. COMAC, however, has signed orders for its smaller and older C909 regional aircraft with airlines in Indonesia and Vietnam, to help them break into the foreign market. They have also placed their older C909 regional plane with a Brunei airline. Lao Airlines took delivery of a second C909 this month and began flying the model across the border to Bangkok, the Thai capital. COMAC also suggested taking a majority share in Laos’ debt-ridden national carrier. Cambodia is an ally of China. Its King Norodom Sihamoni was present at China's biggest-ever military parade held in Beijing, last week. COMAC's statement said that the two parties would work closely together on aircraft deliveries, operational support and industry development. It is China's very first jet-powered aircraft to be produced commercially. It was first put into service in 2016. The exact date of delivery was not disclosed. • US FAA issues a safety alert about the risks of passenger lithium batteries in planes

  U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has issued a safety warning to airlines on Tuesday, citing an alarming number of incidents involving lithium batteries. The FAA has recommended that airlines implement risk mitigation strategies. This includes clear messaging about potential fire risks associated with lithium batteries carried by crew and passengers, and reviewing firefighting training and procedures. FAA reported that the passenger was injured, there was damage on the aircraft's floor, and the flight had been delayed. A passenger's laptop began to emit smoke during a flight on July 12, from Chicago, Oregon to Portland, Oregon. The laptop was in a bag inside a bathroom, but the flight diverted to Casper in Wyoming. Other shipments have included laptops and other batteries on cargo planes. Last week, the FAA proposed a fine of $60,000 against LG Energy Solution. The FAA cited an undeclared shipment of lithium-ion battery from Seoul to Los Angeles in January 2024 that was improperly packaged. • Mitsui OSK, a Japanese shipbuilder, is looking for partnerships in India

  Mitsui O.S.K., Japan's second largest shipping company. Lines' chief executive Takeshi Hashimoto has said that the company wants to partner with Indian companies in order to build tankers on Indian soil, helping to boost the South Asian nation’s efforts to boost local manufacturing. New Delhi has modernised its maritime laws in order to allow foreign participation, including in shipbuilding, ports, and shipyards. This will reduce freight expenditures for foreign firms by atleast a third between 2047-2047. The Indian government is keen to have the new vessels built in India. Hashimoto, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday at the APPEC Conference in Singapore, said that he would like to be involved with the project if possible. India's fleet of ships has not kept up with the rapid growth of its trade, which includes the importation of energy products and the exportation of refined oil products. Hashimoto stated that "we definitely need to work together with local partners and with strong cooperation with Indian shipsyards". In its February budget, the Indian government announced that it would create a maritime development fund of 250 billion rupees (2.84 billion dollars) to finance the shipbuilding and repairs industry on a long-term basis. • South Korea sends chartered plane to Atlanta for workers held in US

  A Korean Air spokesperson announced on Tuesday that South Korea would send a chartered flight to Atlanta by Wednesday to return workers who were detained in a massive immigration raid on a U.S. car battery factory last week. According to the spokesperson, a Korean Air Boeing 747-800i with 368 seats is scheduled to fly from Incheon in South Korea to Atlanta. About 300 South Koreans made up 475 of the people arrested during the U.S. Immigration raid The site of the $4.3 billion project between Hyundai Motor and LG Energy Solution, to build batteries for electrical cars. Cho Hyun, the South Korean foreign minister, is visiting Washington to discuss issues including reentering detained Koreans into the United States. After meeting the workers, a senior diplomat in Georgia told reporters that South Korean officials have begun the process to bring them home. • Asian spot prices increase on geopolitical tensions but slow demand cap gains

• Petronas delivers first local sustainable aviation fuel to Malaysia Airlines
