Russia sells Domodedovo Airport to Sheremetyevo subsidiary

A Russian state trading platform revealed on Thursday that Russia sold Domodedovo Airport, one of its largest and most modern airports in the country, to Sheremetyevo Airport, a subsidiary?of another Moscow-area airport. The sale price was?66 billion?roubles? ($869m)

The auction was the 2nd attempt to sell the Airport, which was nationalised by the Prosecutor-General in June 2025. This was the latest in the series of seizures of state assets.

The 'first auction, which was held on 20 January and set a price of 132.3 billion rubles as the starting point, failed because only one bidder was allowed to participate. The second auction allowed bids to be made below the same starting price.

Perspektiva,?a 100% Sheremetyevo owned firm, won the auction for 66.13 billion rubles, the lowest price possible under the rules of auction. This was revealed by Russian corporate filings as well as a document that appeared on the Russian state property trading website.

Domodedovo is in need of investment and has 75 billion roubles? of debt, said Sheremetyevo CEO Mikhail Vasilenko to?Russian Media last week.

A Russian?company registered in Kaliningrad holds the majority of the shares in Sheremetyevo International Airport. It is the largest airport in the country.

Ownership is kept secret. It was owned before December?2022 by Arkady Rothenberg, an associate of Russian president Vladimir Putin and his partners.
