Blueleaf, a Macquarie Asset-owned company, will invest $400 million in Jakson Green India's solar assets

The companies announced on Thursday that the renewable energy platform Blueleaf Energy will invest $400m in solar projects in India by Jakson green, totaling 1 gigawatt.

The companies announced that the investment would be made into three solar projects. These are expected to come online in 2025-2026, and will be funded by a combination debt and equity.

India is showing a growing interest for renewable energy assets. The country is looking to increase its capacity of non-fossil-fuels to 500 GW in 2030, from 162 GW currently. It is still short on its much-publicized pledge to add an additional 175 GW in 2022.

JSW Energy, led by Indian billionaire Sajjan Jindal, acquired the renewable energy platform O2 Power subsidiaries in December for $1.47 billion.

Blueleaf Energy & Jakson Green also aim to install more than 5 GW renewable capacity in India before 2030.

Singapore-headquartered Blueleaf Energy has more than 7 GW of solar, wind and storage projects in the development pipeline, while Jakson Green has more than 1 GW of renewable energy assets under development. Sethuraman N R; Eileen Soreng, Editor.
