Indonesia tenders to purchase 340,000 metric loads rice, traders state

Indonesian state getting firm Bulog has actually provided a worldwide tender to purchase an approximated 340,000 metric lots of rice, European traders said on Monday.

The due date for submissions of cost offers in the tender is Oct. 30, they stated, with rate settlements expected to follow for numerous days before a decision.

Rice arrival in Indonesia is sought from November to December.

The rice can be sourced from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or Pakistan.

Indonesia's 2024 rice output is estimated at 30.34 million metric lots, down 2.43% from last year, the country's data bureau stated.

Most of the output decrease was seen in the January-April period, when production dropped nearly 15% from the same period in 2023.

To support supply, Indonesia intends to import approximately 3.6 million lots of rice this year.

In the new tender, Bulog is looking for white rice of 5% broken grade from the 2024 crop year, crushed not longer than 6 months earlier, traders said.

In its last documented international rice tender on Sept. 25, Bulog purchased an approximated 450,000 loads with Pakistan expected to be the most significant source country, with other products coming from Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand.
