Ukraine seeks to enhance ties with African nations in farming sector

Ukraine wants to improve cooperation with African nations in the farming sector, its acting farm minister said on Thursday, as it searches for brand-new markets for farmers struggling with falling commodity prices and minimized demand.

Ukraine has traditionally exported grain to northern Africa and less actively to central Africa, leaving the remainder of the continent without significant products.

For Ukraine, expanding cooperation with African nations is a tactically crucial area. This is a continent with 1.5 billion people and customers, Taras Vysotskiy stated in a. statement.

And this continent can be a partner in two ways: both for. the export of Ukrainian products and, in the medium- and. long-term, for the advancement of technological partnerships,. he added.

Vysotskiy stated that Ukrainian experience in soil treatment. innovations, watering, agricultural production, veterinary,. plant protection and fodder production could develop the farm. sector in African countries.

He said Ukraine had success in going into worldwide. markets and the majority of Ukrainian business were state-of-the-art and extremely. effective. In future these companies might expand their existence. in African countries.
