Brazil's Rumo, CHS and CHS will develop a new grain and fertiliser terminal in Santos

Rumo, a Brazilian logistics company, has signed a contract with CHS Inc. to construct a new grain and fertilizer facility at Santos port.

CHS, controlled by the conglomerate Cosan, and Rumo will jointly control a joint-venture responsible for the development of the new asset at the biggest port in Latin America. This was revealed in a late Wednesday securities filing.

Rumo stated that the terminal's annual capacity will be up to 12,5 million metric tonnes, which includes 9 million tons grain and 3.5 millions tons fertilizer.

Brazil, a major global grain supplier (such as corn and soybean), imports most of its fertiliser needs.

They did not specify how much money they would invest in this terminal. According to the Brazilian company, construction will begin only after environmental licenses and approvals from legal and regulatory authorities. Gabriel Araujo is reporting; Conor Humphries, editing.
