'Daddio' film shuns glitz for deep conversation in between Sean Penn, Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson understood twotime Academy Winner Sean Penn was exactly who she wished to star in the movie Daddio as the male lead, but in the beginning, she was uncertain how to make it happen.

The first and only person that I was like, 'Oh he 'd be actually perfect', was Sean and we kind of idea he would never ever do it due to the fact that it's such a little movie with a novice filmmaker and more recent manufacturers, she stated.

However, living close to Penn and sometimes hanging out offered her the chance to ask him if he would read the script for Daddio.

He did it rather rapidly, which was unexpected, and then we opted for a walk, and he enjoyed it (the script), Johnson added.

Johnson obtained the Daddio screenplay from writer and director Christy Hall. In the film, she plays a young woman who takes a cab driven by a man called Clark, played by Penn, who calls her Girlie. The character's real name is never ever specified in the movie.

Girlie takes the yellow cab back to her apartment or condo in Manhattan after landing at John F. Kennedy Airport. She and Clark, the cab driver, have a shockingly earnest conversation about a series of subjects, consisting of relationships, loss and vulnerability.

Daddio shows up in theaters on Friday.

Most of the film involves Clark and 'Girlie' talking about their lives and experiences while in the cab.

Penn believes the movie defies the razzle dazzle that people are typically informed they need to look for in a film.

For him, a glitzy movie is not necessarily the key to crafting excellent cinema.

Instead, what struck him about Daddio was the quality of the script and the rawness of Johnson's efficiency as Girlie.

She has such a lovely vulnerability ... that never ever gets in the method of strength, he stated.

It's vulnerability in the most appropriate ways, he added.
