Kremlin hopes Iran talks will continue for the benefit of Gulf economies and the global economy

The Kremlin said on Monday that it hopes the 'negotiations with Iran continue in order to avoid negative consequences for the region and global economy. Russia added that, while not acting as mediators, they are ready to help if necessary.

"We can see that the Gulf situation remains unstable and unpredictable." Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, told reporters that they hoped that the 'negotiation process would continue - and that we could avoid further escalation to a military scenario.

Peskov stated that Russia was not acting as a'mediator' in the talks about Iran, but stood ready to assist if asked.
