Israel claims it has struck Houthi targets, including the last plane at Sanaa Airport

Israel announced on Wednesday that it had struck Houthi targets, including the last plane still used by the group in Sanaa International Airport. Yemeni militants had launched missiles at Israel the day before.

Israel's Defence Ministry said that the attack destroyed the plane of the Iranian-backed Houthis who fired a number of missiles towards Israel as a show solidarity with Palestinians living in Gaza.

The defence ministry issued a statement saying, "This is a message that's clear and it's a continuation of our policy: anyone who fires on the State of Israel pays a heavy cost."

The Houthis didn't immediately respond to our request for comment.

Sanaa Airport, the largest airport in Yemen, was reopened last week following temporary repairs and runway reconstruction after previous Israeli attacks.

The aircraft was used primarily by U.N. aircraft, and the one civilian aircraft left of Yemenia Airways after three other aircraft were destroyed during the last attack.
