UK works with airlines to increase Oman evacuations

Yvette Cooper, the British Foreign Minister, said on Tuesday that Britain was working with airlines to increase capacity out of Muscat in Oman so as to prioritize evacuations of British?nationals who were vulnerable.

Cooper told lawmakers that she was in constant contact with her counterparts in the Gulf Countries, where 130,000 British nationals have now registered their presence in the region.

Cooper added: "We are also working with airlines to increase capacity for British nationals out of Muscat, giving priority to vulnerable nationals."

"A 'government charter battle will fly out of Muscat in the next a few days, giving priority to vulnerable nationals. But?British citizens residing in Oman should wait until they are contacted by the?foreign office about?these options."

British Airways, a subsidiary of IAG, said that it would operate a flight on Thursday from Muscat to London's Heathrow Airport.
