The TSA is absent at more airports, causing security lines to reach three hours.

Some?U.S. airports saw their security line wait times increase to three hours on Sunday. Airports were closed for three hours on Easter Sunday due to the absence of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers during a partial shutdown of the government and increased spring break travel.

Houston Hobby Airport reported a line of 3.5 hours at one point, and three hours at 4 pm EDT.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport stated: "TSA has a shortage at the security checkpoint which is causing longer than average lines." It is advised that passengers with flights scheduled for today arrive at least three hours before the scheduled departure.

TSA reported longer than average lines at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The funding for Homeland Security Department expired on February 13, 'after Congress failed in its efforts to reach an agreement on immigration enforcement reforms requested by Democrats. This halted funding for several government departments, including the TSA. About 50,000 TSA airport screeners were forced to work without pay.

DHS stated?on Sunday?: "Travelers face TSA?lines up to almost 3 hours long at major airports causing missed flight and massive delays during the peak travel period." The Department, which is part of the Republican Trump Administration, has criticized Democrats for their refusal to reach an agreement to restore funding to DHS.

DHS stated that TSA employees "now face their very first missed full paycheck. This will lead to financial hardships, absences and crippling staffing shortages."

Airlines for America CEO Chris Sununu said that carriers are anticipating a record spring travel period. 171 million passengers will be flying, an increase of 4% compared to the same two-month period in last year.
