Ukraine cuts output at nuclear plant after Russian attacks

Capability was reduced at one system of the South Ukraine nuclear reactor after Russian attacks harmed the nation's electrical power transmission system, nuclear company Energoatom stated on Wednesday.

No mishaps happened at the South Ukraine nuclear power plant, Energoatom said on Telegram messenger.

Instead, it stated output was lowered after hostile shelling of Ukrenergo's facilities and significant fluctuations in the criteria of the grid.

Energoatom stated electricity generation at the unit was reduced by 33% however did not specify when this occurred.

Ukraine's energy infrastructure has gone through increased Russian missile and drone attacks in current months.

Authorities have said the country has actually lost about half of its generating capacity and now relies mainly on energy produced by three nuclear power plants.

A 4th, the Europe's biggest, Zaporizhzhia NPP, was occupied by Russia at the beginning of the war and is currently not in operation.
