The governor of Russia's Astrakhan Gas Plant says that the plant has recovered from drone attacks.

A local governor reported that experts are working to restore gas supply to trunk pipelines coming from the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant in Russia, which had been damaged by Ukrainian drones just a day earlier.

Ukraine launched drones on Monday to strike energy facilities in southern Russia. The drones caused fires at an oil refinery, and a gas processing plant.

Igor Babushkin said that drones from Ukraine tried to attack energy facilities, and a fire broke out.

He said that on Tuesday, the repairs, including commissioning, testing, and resuming natural gas supply to the trunk pipelines, from the Astrakhan Plant, are underway.

Gazprom's plant in Astrakhan, Kalmykia, and Stavropol, Russia, is the only natural gas supplier to these regions.

The plant is one of the largest gas chemical complexes in the world and can process around 8,340 tons of gas condensate each day.

Astrakhan's plant will produce 703,000 tons (1.6%) of Russia's gasoline in 2023, along with 492,000 tons (0.6%) of diesel and 299,000 tons (0.7%) of fuel oil. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens, with Vladimir Soldatkin)
