Taiwan's MFIG purchases 65,000 T of corn with Brazil as expected origin

European traders reported that the MFIG group of Taiwan bought 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn from Brazil at an international auction on Wednesday.

They said that the yellow corn was bought at a premium estimated to be 194.88 U.S. Cents per bushel, cost and freight included (c&f), over Chicago's March 2025 corn contract.

Trading house ADM is believed to be the seller.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

The corn originating from Brazil or the U.S. Gulf coast was to be shipped between Nov. 17 and December 6, traders stated. Traders said that if the corn is sourced from South Africa or the Pacific Northwest Coast of the U.S., then shipment would be between Dec. 2 to Dec. 21.

Taiwanese traders were concerned about the quality of Argentine corn and therefore did not accept Argentina as an origin.

The tender only reported Brazilian corn offers, and no U.S. corn offers were initially mentioned.

Ten other trading companies also offered 65,000 tonnes from Brazil, with premiums ranging between 197.69 and 221.70 U.S. dollars a bushel, cost and c&f compared to the Chicago March contract.

After Chicago, traders reported that Asian buyers showed interest in purchasing products.
