South Korea's NOFI purchased about 65,000 T of corn in a private deal, traders claim

The leading South Korean feedmaker Nonghyup Feed Inc., (NOFI), purchased approximately 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn on Thursday in a deal that was not subject to an international tender. European traders confirmed this on Friday.

The corn was purchased for an estimated cost and freight of $252.49 per ton (c&f), plus a surcharge of $1.50 per ton for port unloading.

The same price was paid by the Major Feedmill Group of South Korea (MFG) for 204,000 tons feed corn purchased on Thursday. Feed Leaders Committee of South Korea (FLC) bought 65,000 tons at the same price in a separate deal on Thursday.

NOFI's corn should arrive in South Korea by July 20. Posco was thought to be the seller of corn to NOFI.

If the shipment originated from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, it was made between June 10 and 7th. The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and future estimates on prices and volume are possible. Michael Hogan is reporting.
