South Korea's FLC purchases 68,000 T of corn in a private deal, traders claim

The Feed Leaders Committee of South Korea (FLC) bought around 68,000 tons of animal feed in a private transaction on Wednesday, without launching an international tender.

The United States, South America and South Africa were expected to supply the product.

The corn was bought at an estimated cost of $245.24 per ton, including freight. There was also an additional surcharge of $1.25 per tonne for port unloading. The seller was thought to be Mitsui, a trading house.

Arrival was scheduled for around February 10, 2025. If the shipment originated from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, it was shipped between December 26 and January 16.

Korea Feed Association, a South Korean company, had purchased up to 70,000 tonnes of corn earlier in the day during an international auction. The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and future estimates on prices and volume are possible. Michael Hogan is reporting.
