South Korea's MFG purchases about 134,000 t corn, traders claim

European traders reported that South Korea's Major Feedmill Group purchased approximately 134,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn at an international auction with restricted participation held on Friday.

A consignment of approximately 67,000 tons, with freight included (c&f), was purchased at an estimated cost and freight rate of $238.86 per ton plus an additional $1.50 per ton for port deloading. The shipment is expected to arrive in South Korea on or around February 20, 2025.

The seller was thought to be United Grain Corporation, with corn coming from anywhere in the world.

A second consignment of approximately 67,000 tons, also at a cost and freight included (c&f), was purchased for an estimated $248.74 per ton plus an additional $1.25 per ton for port deloading. The shipment is expected to arrive in South Korea on or around March 15, 2025.

The seller was thought to be CJ International, and the second shipment was expected to come from South America.

Traders said that the tender was restricted in its participation, as not all of the usual trading houses were invited. The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and further estimates about prices and volume are possible later. Michael Hogan is reporting.
