South Korea's FLC purchases about 65,000 T of corn in a private deal, traders claim

Feed Leaders Committee of South Korea (FLC) purchased around 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn on Thursday in a private transaction without issuing a international tender, European traders reported on Friday.

Although it can be purchased from anywhere in the world, traders usually expect to find it in South America, South Africa or the United States.

The corn was bought at a cost of $252.49 per ton, including freight. There was also an extra $1.50 surcharge per ton for port unloading. Seller was thought to be CHS trading house.

Arrival in South Korea was scheduled for around July 10. By May 1, the seller must determine the origin. If the origin is from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, then shipment should be between May 27 to June 25, if sourced.

The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later. Michael Hogan is reporting.
