Turkey receives bids in barley tender of 150,000 T, traders claim

According to traders, the highest price in an auction held by TMO (the Turkish state grain board) to sell and export 150 000 metric tons animal feed barley was $225.50 per ton FOB.

Mir Agro, a trading company, reportedly made an offer for two consignments of 75,000 tons each to be loaded at the ports of Iskenderun & Mersin.

The traders stated that no decision had been taken and offers were still being considered. TMO negotiates in several rounds to find more favorable offers.

Between Dec. 18th and Jan. 13th, barley ships should be loaded.

Six consignments of 25 000 tons are available for purchase. Each of the three shipments should be loaded in Iskenderun or Mersin.

Turkey banned wheat imports in the autumn of this year after a successful harvest. This was partly to protect farmers against low prices.

Some traders believe that Turkey's grain supply is better than the rest of Europe and it needs to release some storage space with its barley export tender. Michael Hogan (Reporting) and David Goodman (Editing)
