Russian-held town in eastern Ukraine equips buses with drone jammers

Authorities in the Russiancontrolled eastern Ukrainian town of Horlivka have set up jamming gadgets on some of the local buses to protect them from drone strikes, officials told Reuters.

Jammers work by disrupting a drone's interactions with its operator, making it less harmful, although crashing drones have also caused damage in a variety of incidents in the Russia-Ukraine war.

We can not safeguard bus drivers and travelers ourselves, so we asked for assistance and they provided us four jamming gadgets, said Vladimir Mironov, owner and manager of a bus depot in Horlivka.

We do not know how effective they will be, however it's the most we can do for the sake of security at the moment.

Horlivka lies near to the cutting edge and local authorities routinely report shelling and drone attacks.

Donetsk has actually been under Russian control since 2014, but Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold positions on its outskirts and the city routinely comes under artillery fire.

Donetsk is among 4 areas of eastern and southern Ukraine that Russia partly inhabits and declared as its own in 2022 in a move condemned as unlawful by many countries at the United Nations General Assembly.
