India's GreenLine Mobility to deploy 25 LNG trucks to Flipkart

Indian logistics company GreenLine Mobility Solutions said on Monday it would provide ecommerce huge Flipkart with melted gas (LNG) trucks, signalling the increasing adoption of cleanerburning fuel in the nation.

GreenLine, part of the retail-to-mining Essar Group, stated it would deploy 25 LNG-powered trucks to Walmart-owned Flipkart, which already has about 10,000 electrical automobiles in its shipment fleet.

It said these trucks will be used to transport goods from west to north India and the collaboration will subsequently broaden to even more routes.

GreenLine has around 500 LNG-powered trucks and has purchased over 2,000 more. Its customers include Dependence, TVS Motor Co and Tata Steel.

India, among the world's biggest greenhouse gas emitters, is pressing to change to LNG trucks and intends to convert about one-third of its 7 million heavy trucks to LNG within 5 to 7 years. It currently has 645 LNG-powered trucks.

Last month, Blue Energy Motors, India's first LNG truck producer, said it prepares to raise $100 million by January to fund capability growth.
