Saudi Arabia is expected to purchase 595,000 tonnes of wheat from traders

European traders reported on Thursday that Saudi Arabia's General Food Security Authority, the country's purchasing agency, has launched an international tender for an estimated 595,000 metric tonnes of wheat.

They said that the deadline for submitting price offers to the tender is on Friday, February 14.

The traders said that results will be expected on Monday, 17th February.

The traders stated that ten consignments of hard wheat with 12.5% protein are needed. Each shipment will be around 60,000 tonnes to the ports Jeddah Dammam Yanbu, plus 55,000 to Jizan.

The traders said that this was a target, and the final purchase can differ in terms of the number and distribution of consignments.

Between May 1 and June 30, Jeddah was expecting to receive 180,000 tonnes.

Between May 1 and July 15, Yanbu was expecting another 240,000 tonnes to arrive.

Dammam was looking for another 120,000 tonnes between May 1 and 15th. Jizan was expecting 55,000 tonnes between July 1-15. Reporting by Gus Trompiz, Michael Hogan and Tomaszjanowski.
