Algeria tenders to buy small 50,000 T soft milling wheat, traders say

Algeria's state grains company OAIC has provided an international tender to purchase soft milling wheat to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Tuesday.

The tender sought a nominal 50,000 metric loads however Algeria often purchases significantly more in its tenders than the nominal volume sought.

The due date for submission of cost offers in the tender is Thursday, Aug. 8, with deals needing to remain legitimate till Friday, Aug. 9.

The wheat is sought for shipment in 2024 in two periods from the primary supply regions consisting of Europe: Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31. If sourced from South America or Australia, delivery is one month earlier.

Algeria is an important client for wheat from the European Union, especially France, however Russian and other Black Sea region exporters have actually been expanding strongly in the Algerian market.
