Serbian protesters clash with authorities over train station disaster

Thousands of Serbian opposition backers rallied on Tuesday in the northwestern city of Nov Sad in a violent demonstration over a deadly accident at a. regional train station, for which they blame negligence and. corruption by the government.

The disaster occurred on Friday when roof along the. entrance to the station suddenly collapsed, killing 14 individuals. and seriously injuring 3.

Police utilized pepper spray to distribute the crowd, after. protesters broke windows at the entryway of the 19th-century. municipal government in the city centre, tossed flares and firecrackers. inside and spilled liquid manure from a tank.

Previously, masked demonstrators hurled eggs, bottles and. bricks at an office of the judgment Serbian Progressive Party. ( SINS).
