Air France extends suspension of Paris-Beirut flights till Aug 6

Air France stated on Saturday it and its affiliate Transavia were further extending their suspensions of flights in between Paris and Beirut up until at least Aug 6, in the middle of rising regional tensions.

Airlines are preventing Iranian and Lebanese airspace and cancelling flights to Israel and Lebanon, as concerns grow over a possible local conflict after the killing of senior members of militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah this week.

Air France suspended flights between Paris and Beirut last Monday, 2 days after a strike in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights killed 12 children and teens, which Israel and the United States blamed on Hezbollah.

That suspension was extended on Wednesday until a minimum of Saturday, Aug 3.

Offered the security circumstance (...) the airline company extends its suspension of its flights between Paris and Beirut till Aug 6 consisted of, Air France stated in a statement, adding it was keeping track of the circumstance in Lebanon in real time.

The resuming of service will be subject of a brand-new evaluation of the circumstance on the ground, stated the business, part of Air-France-KLM.
