SAS cabin crew go on strike in Norway as wage talks collapse

Cabin crew at Scandinavian airline company SAS in Norway went on strike on Friday to press their need for better wage and working conditions after wage talks broke down overnight, labour unions said.

Some 120 SAS staff members went on strike at first and the conflict is expected to grow in the coming days when more staff members are set up to join the picket line, the two labour unions associated with the talks stated.

It was not instantly clear how the strike would impact SAS flights.

Norway's government-appointed wage arbitrator said he had been not able to bridge the divide in between the two sides.

There was no option that could be anticipated to be advised by both celebrations, mediator Mats Wilhelm Ruland stated in a statement.
