Pakistani ministry turns down sole quote for PIA privatisation

Pakistan has declined the sole quote for a stake in nationwide carrier Pakistan International Airline Companies (PIA), the privitisation ministry said in a declaration on Wednesday.

The last bidding process for the privatisation of PIA had brought in just one quote of 10 billion Pakistani rupees ($ 36 million) for a 60% stake in the national flag carrier, the ministry said last month.

Just real-estate development company Blue World City took part in the bidding procedure, positioning a quote that was below the government-set minimum cost of 85 billion Pakistani rupees.
