FAA website: Alaska Airlines asks for ground stops on all mainline aircraft

Alaska Airlines requested a ground-stop for all of its mainline aircraft on the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) status webpage.

Also, all Horizon Air flights operated by Alaska Airlines' regional subsidiary were requested to be stopped at the ground.

It was not immediately apparent why either request was made.

Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, and the FAA have not responded to requests for comments outside of regular business hours.

The FAA's status page indicated that all destinations were affected by the Alaska mainline aircraft's and Horizon's stop.

Alaska Air Group's website states that it maintains a fleet of 238 Boeing 737 and 87 Embraer 175.

Hawaiian Airlines, owned by Alaska Air Group, reported that a hacker had disrupted some of their IT systems in June. Alaska Air Group stated that it is still determining the impact of the hack. (Reporting and editing by Rashmi aich in Bengaluru, Gursimran kaur in Bengaluru)
