Boeing reaches 2024 delivery total in August, and surpasses it by August

Boeing announced on Tuesday that they delivered 57 jets during August, up from the 48 it had delivered in July. The number of aircraft delivered in August was the highest since 2018, when Boeing handed over 64 planes. By August 31st, the company had already delivered 385 planes in 2025. This was more than its total for 2024 of 348. The delivery of planes last year was hampered by a strike by Seattle-area union workers that lasted seven weeks, but the stoppage didn't begin until September. Airbus, a rival European manufacturer, delivered 61 aircraft in August, bringing its total to 434. Boeing delivered 42 737 MAX aircraft last month. Seven were for Ryanair, a low-cost airline, and six went to United Airlines.

The company delivered fourteen widebody aircraft, including nine Dreamliners 787, four 777s, and one 767.

Nine jets were delivered to Chinese carriers in August. This included six 737 MAXs, and two 787-9s. Boeing received 26 gross orders. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific purchased 14 777-9 aircraft. Boeing also received orders for seven 787 Dreamliners and five 737 MAX aircraft. Two 737 MAX orders were cancelled.

Boeing's 2025 orders through August included 725 gross orders. This was offset by 46 cancellations or conversions.

The official backlog of the company is 5,994 aircraft after accounting adjustments. Reporting and editing by Jamie Freed in Seattle.
