Malaysia's Bumi armada considers merging with MISC offshore unit

Bumi armada, a Malaysian provider of offshore energy facilities, said that it is in discussions with MISC about a possible merger with its offshore unit.

Bumi Armada stated in a Bursa filing that they had entered into an non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with MISC, to explore a possible merger with their offshore business.

It stated that "the parties intend to work together in good faith, exclusively and with each other, to achieve the goals of the proposed merger."

Bumi Armada stated that the agreement would be in effect for nine months after its date of signing, and will not have any legal obligations except for exclusivity and confidentiality.

Separately MISC confirmed in a Bursa filing that it had signed an agreement with Bumi Armeda.

The proposed merger is still in the early stages of evaluation. It's not certain that ongoing discussions between the two parties will result in a binding agreement or the completion of the merger.
