French shipping giant CMA CGM wants to supply biofuel bunkers in Singapore by 2025

According to sources, French shipping giant CMA CGM wants marine biofuel delivered in Singapore between January 2025 and December 2025.

Sources said that the company was one of the largest lifters of marine fuel in Singapore and will be expanding its lifting period next year from a half-year to a full-year.

The company is seeking to purchase a volume of between 35,000 and 50,000 metric tonnes of B24, a blend of conventional fuel and 24% biofuel derived from used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME). Sources added that the tender will close on December 16.

In order to achieve the International Maritime Organization's carbon reduction targets, the shipping industry is exploring low-carbon marine fuels.

FuelEU maritime regulations, which come into effect in the next year, are also expected to increase demand for marine fuels with lower carbon emissions.
