South Korea's NOFI offers to purchase up to 138,000 t corn

European traders reported on Thursday that the leading South Korean feed manufacturer Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) had issued an international bid to purchase up 138,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn.

The deadline to submit price offers for the tender is also on Thursday, February 27, 2019.

Two consignments of between 45,000 and 69,000 tonnes of corn are expected to arrive in May.

Traders said that they believed corn was only sought from the United States, South America, or South Africa.

First consignment expected to arrive in South Korea by May 20.

Shipping is required between April 17 and May 6 from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, between March 28 and April 16 from the U.S. Gulf coast, between the 23rd of March to the 11th of April from South America or between the 2nd April and the 21st April from South Africa.

A second consignment of corn is expected to arrive around May 30.

Shipping is requested between April 27 and May 16 from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, between the U.S. Gulf between the April 7 and April 26 period, between the April 2 and April 21 period from South America or between the April 12 to May 1 period from South Africa.

The seller has the right to choose the origin of the products they sell.

Traders said that they were seeking offers in both outright ton prices c&f as well as a premium on the Chicago corn contract for May 2025.

Major Feedmill Group of South Korea has also released an international tender for the purchase of up to 140,000 tonness feed corn that will close on Thursday.

Some traders said that some Asian importers purchased ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual Outlook Forum, which will take place on Thursday and provide early projections of U.S. soybean and corn planting. Michael Hogan, Varun H. K. and Michael Hogan contributed to this report.
