South Korea's FLC purchases up to 68,000 t corn from the United States

The Feed Leaders Committee of South Korea (FLC) bought between 65,000 and 68,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn from the United States on Wednesday in an international auction, traders reported.

They said that the corn was bought at an estimated cost and freight price of $257.69 per ton plus a surcharge of $1.50 for port unloading. It was also purchased at a premium 162.50 U.S.cents per bushel over Chicago corn futures in May.

Trading house Mitsui was reportedly the seller. The bidders wanted corn to arrive in South Korea by May 30.

The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.

Traders said that the seller must declare by March 7 what volume of the range purchased will be delivered. The shipment will be made between April 16 and 15 from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast.
