Analyst APK-Inform predicts that Ukraine's sunseed production in 2025 will rise by 6-8%.

Analyst APK-Inform stated on Monday that Ukraine's sunflower seeds harvest could increase by 6-8% in 2025 due to an possible 5% increase in the sowing area next year.

Ukraine is one of the world's largest sunflower oil and sunseed producers.

According to the consultancy, the "current price situation in this industry" is the primary reason for the increased outlook.

APK-Inform reported last week that indicative prices for Ukrainian sunflower seed exports continued to increase, adding $15-$30 per ton in the past seven day period and reaching $505-$535 based on Carriage Paid to (CPT) as of November 6.

As of November 8, Ukraine had harvested 9.6 millions metric tons from 95.2% planted area.

APK-Inform reported that "the expansion of the area could be due to the soybean planting, which in many cases did not produce the expected yields because of both weather conditions and the sowing of it in regions not entirely suitable for it."

According to the preliminary forecasts, it is expected that the soybean harvest in 2025 will decrease by up to 5% and the area planted with soybeans by 7%-10%, depending on the weather conditions.

APK-Inform reported that the soybean harvest for 2024 increased by 8%, to 5.9 millions tons. (Reporting and editing by Jan Harvey, Louise Heavens and Pavel Polityuk)
