Ukraine grain and oilseed exports fell 12% between March 1-15, according to traders' union

The Ukrainian grain traders' union UGA reported on Tuesday that the country's grain and oilseed exports fell to 1.9 millions metric tons from 2.16 in February 1-5, mainly due to lower wheat shipments.

The union reported on Telegram that wheat exports have decreased from 622,000 tones in February 1-15 to 497,000 tonnes in the first half-month of March.

UGA reported that Ukraine has also exported 1.2 millions tons of corn in March. This is the same volume exported during the same period last February.

UGA reported that Ukraine exported 145,000 tonnes of soybeans in March. It also noted 17,000 tons rapeseed, and 23,000 tonnes of sunseed.

The union did not explain the lower exports, while analysts said that a reduction in stocks and disincentives for farmers to sell grains was the primary reason.

According to data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, the country has exported 31 million tons of grains so far during the July-June 2024/25 season as opposed to 32.9 millions a year ago.
