German regulator sets stamp cost guidelines, shaking off DHL protest

Germany's network regulator verified its guidelines for the prices of postage stamps on Monday, declining to surpass its proposed varieties in spite of protest by the nationwide operator Deutsche Post, owned by logistics group DHL.

I can not understand Post's need for an even higher boost. The costs that Post has presented to us do not permit for this. If we were to follow the needs, consumers and companies would be two times as strained, regulator president Klaus Mueller said in a declaration.

Under the guidelines, which are to apply from the start of 2025 until completion of 2026, stamp prices for personal customers and company mail are to increase by an average of 10.48%, while personal customers sending parcels would see a 7.21% boost, the regulator stated.

DHL has criticised the regulator, which initially proposed the pricing guidelines in September, for not providing the postal system adequate leeway to respond to increasing inflation and falling letter volumes.
