BigBasket will launch 10-minute food deliveries across India by March 20, 2026, says executive

BigBasket, an Indian company, plans to launch 10-minute food delivery nationwide by the end fiscal year 2026. This is because the competition in the $7.1-billion quick-commerce market has intensified.

The Tata-backed supermarket giant will compete with established players like Swiggy's Snacc and Blinkit's Bistro, which deliver coffee and snacks ready to eat in less than 15 minute.

BigBasket targets existing food delivery companies such as Zomato, Swiggy and also unlocks a new customer pool.

Parekh said that the company plans to use dark-stores to fuel its service. This will allow it to gain a foothold in India’s booming quick commerce market, described by Blume Venture’s Indus Valley Report as the “fastest-growing segment of the industry ever.”

Dark stores are warehouses located in densely-populated neighbourhood buildings where delivery partners (typically two-wheeler riders) pick up groceries and food to be delivered.

BigBasket, the online grocery delivery service that brought India to India in 2011 aims to increase their dark store count by 2025 from 700 to 1,200.

Parekh announced that the food delivery service, which began as a pilot in Bengaluru a month earlier, will be expanded by the end of July to 40 dark-stores.

He said that 5%-10% BigBasket customers are currently ordering quick food items along with their regular online orders. This is expected to increase, he said.

Menu will include items from the Indian Hotels food arm Qmin and the coffee chain Starbucks, both of which are part of Tata Group in India. The firm stated that no external restaurants would be partnered up with.

Parekh also denied media reports that BigBasket was looking for external investors to raise money and confirmed the company's intention to go public in the next 18-24 hours.
