French aircraft carriers moving into Red Sea, Gulf of Aden

France's Charles de Gaulle carrier group has moved into the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea as part of a?France-Britain?preparation for a?future?mission? to assist freedom of navigation in the 'Strait of Hormuz'.

In a press release, the French Armed Forces ministry said that the "aircraft carrier group" had crossed the Suez Canal Wednesday on its way to the southern Red Sea.

The French aircraft carrier group can stay at sea between 4 and 5 months.

France and Britain lead efforts to lead an international team to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz when conditions allow.
