Shooutout with authorities in northern Mexico leaves 11 dead

A shootout between Mexican authorities and an alleged criminal group in the northern state of Nuevo Leon left 11 of the armed assaulters dead, the state federal government stated late on Wednesday.

That morning, the lawbreakers had actually pulled up to the regional police station in the little municipality of General Teran, about 100 km southeast of industrial center Monterrey, and chance at the structure, according to the federal government.

The men are believed to have actually belonged to a criminal group that operates out of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, on the border with Texas, the state security minister told local media.

The minister did not name the group, although security professionals state the Northeast Cartel is present in the location.

After the shooting, the state cops's civil force, the nationwide guard and the army began a look for the group and captured a guy dressed in camouflage, tactical gear and carrying a long gun, the government stated.

It called the 30-year-old guy as Alejandro N, in line with the nation's standards for those accused of criminal activities.

The search continued after the guy's arrest, the government stated, and the group came upon a convoy of around 8 trucks carrying armed men along the highway east of Monterrey.

Shooting broke out at the start of the chase, the government said. In the end, 11 of the bad guys were eliminated by authorities. No security personnel were injured in the fight, according to the state.

Six pick-ups were seized after the battle, authorities said, suggesting 2 trucks escaped.
